Students for TRUE Academic Freedom is hosting an event in conjunction with Ward Churchill’s landmark academic freedom lawsuit against the University of Colorado. Churchill’s legal suit for violating his first amendment rights begins March 9th. Therefore, we are bringing well known activist-scholars Derrick Jensen and Bill Ayers to voice their strong support for Churchill and political dissent in academia. Their presentations will unveil the mask of liberal academia and link Churchill’s fight with other scholars who have been attacked for their strong beliefs. If we want our universities to embody institutions of critical inquiry, then we must not only support scholars such as Ward Churchill, but also view these attacks in context. Come and hear the shocking truths behind the right-wing attacks on Churchill. Hear what they don’t want you to know!

Wow. Potential for cranks attending? Those names can really hold their own in public speaking. Jensen is more radical than Churchill, but cuter, better sweaters. He often holds the interest of whole university auditoriums, without walkouts, and with a verbal, nonpowerpoint presentation style. He doesn’t like to spar with jerks. Having this before the trial means WC isn’t trying to play as the moderate falsely accused of a slip of tongue.
Yeah, I like it, too. I’m hoping there’s some cranks for the humor effect, but we’ll see.
Yeah I think that blog will exist for as long as jwp is still breathing. Without it, I’m sure he wouldn’t have any other reason to get out of bed in the afternoon. You take him away and then those other 3 wouldn’t have much of an incentive to go on with their lives either.
I know what you’re saying. He’s never letting go. He’ll be stalking Ward from the nursing home.

Yesterday I stopped at Fox news, where O’Reilly had a 5 minute segment on ‘Bill Ayers speaks at university in Florida’, where he started flashing W. Churchill’s face on the screen. It occurred to me that it is 2009, kids could have gone through high school since 2005, and it’s not a slow news day, what with the layoffs. Melanie Morgan is a nondrinking alcoholic, and apparently her husband is a liberal psychotherapist, and they live in Marin county with at least one liberal kid. She was being like “no, students can’t make up their own minds”.
To be honest, Bill Ayers seems like the odd man out on the same stage with Ward Churchill and DJ. But good for him for agreeing to show up for Churchill. DJ’s speaking schedule is getting crowded again. He’ll be in the D.C. area on April 25 speaking with Mickey Z. about Obama’s first 100 days. http://www.pressaction.com/news/weblog/earth911
Yeah, I agree about Ayers. He seems like a nice enough guy, but I never quite see him on the same stage with Churchill and Jensen, and I’ve heard the same from others.
